Portfolio

After we posted our papers to the presentations screen on web CT, the class read each individuals paper and then ranked them all. The five best papers were then edited and refined by the editorial group to be posted on our website uder "portfolio." Eventually our portfolio will contain the best papers from the three writing assignments over the course of the semester.

Being able to read everybody’s essays is very enriching, & very different than other classes; I think it contributes to writing a better essay myself & getting a good idea what other classmates are writing/thinking. Interestingly enough, I guess in other classes there’s really not much time to go over everybody else’s writings, so how did we find the ‘time’?

Rating our essays however brought up all kinds of peculiar questions having to do with criteria, such as:
- Spell checking?
- Proper works cited?
- Content or webpage design?
- Working links?
- Diversity of links?
- Images?
- Humor?
- Whether or not I liked the subject?

Since we were not given any criteria to rate by, I tended to rate according to personal taste of course, which says to me that’s what ‘reading’ is all about to begin with.
